是董永的故乡，因汉孝子董永行天而得名。市辖云梦、孝昌、大悟三县及孝南区，代管安陆、应城、汉川三市。改革开放以来，经济社会得到了长足的发展。目前，全市国土面积8910平方公里，人口506万。年，全市总人口521.8万，实现国内生产总值480.79亿元，全市财政收入达到31.38亿元。紧邻湖北省会城市武汉，距武汉市中心仅60公里。京广、汉渝两条铁路，107、316国道和京珠高速公路贯穿全市，省道、市县区域干线纵横其间，公路密度居湖北省之冠，汉江等23条江河直通长江，构成了水陆空立体交通网络。矿产资源丰富，素有“膏都”、“盐海”、“磷山”之称，应城石膏品质居亚洲第一。旅游资源丰富。境内有秀色峻丽的双峰山风景区，有宜于疗养的“玉女汤池”温泉，有李白隐居十年的白兆山，有3个国家森林公园。有着光荣的革命传统，在大悟宣化店打响了中原突围第一枪，拉开了解放战争的序幕。是刘华清、徐海东等将军的故乡，1955年至1965年授衔将军中，籍将军就有50名，其中大悟县37名，居全国将军县第七位。是楚文化的重要发祥地之一。境内有门板湾、夏家寨、禹王城、楚王城等古遗址460多处，古墓葬200多处，古建筑40多处，古塞堡180多处，还有许多古景观。出土的古文物中，国家一级品100余件，二、三级品1000余件。
近三年来，市工商局在省工商局党组和市委、市政府的正确领导下，认真贯彻科学发展观，按照“四个统一”的要求，围绕“快速发展、实现新跨越、开创新局面”三大主题，甘当服务发展主力，争做市场监管苦力，充分发挥职能作用，努力实现自身发展与全市经济社会发展的同频共振。坚持不断优化服务举措，创新和落实预约延时、送照上门、“一审一核”、网上年检登记、企业双向联络等服务制度，促进各类市场主体又好又快发展。坚持深化干部人事制度改革，大力推进干部轮岗交流，充分激发系统活力;深入开展“1356”基层建设工程，切实改善基层办公环境和执法装备，不断夯实基础工作。坚持开展无照经营专项整治，全面实施个体经营户分层分类监管，促进监管职能到位;研究创新案件资源共享、案件核审、案件执行、奖惩激励等“四大机制”，探索实施食品进货检查验收、进货台帐、质量管理、质量承诺、不合格食品退市、食品抽检、食品安全申诉举报局长快线、12315“三网并一网”、“两员合一员”的食品安全监管机制，提升监管执法效能。坚持适应停证“两费”政策，加大机构整合力度，积极探索网格化管理模式，实现执法监管的网络化、规范化和科学化。市工商局先后荣获“湖北省最佳文明单位”、“市十佳文明执法单位”等30多个荣誉称号。

11月14日，我们一行十多个人从信丰县慕名来到赣县，参观客家文化城，现在叫江西客家博物院。
人生地不熟的我们，一来到这里，就得到了江西客家博物院工作人员黄达平的热情、周到、耐心地接待，他对我们吃、住、行、游、购、娱都安排得非常周到、贴心，让我们真切感受到了“在家千日好，出门也一样”。
