Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

“Pride and Prejudice”, the masterpiece of Jane Austin, is always my favorite literature work what I have read and watched. It is a light comedy about the love and relationship between the Bennet’s who are at a low class and Mr. Bingley, Mr. Darcy on behalf of upper class. As is seen in the book’s name, this story centers with the theme, pride and prejudice between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy the two main characters.

If I could maintain my persistence to chase after perfectionism, I would like to use up all of my affection to love this one person without any reservation. In fact, he deserves almost anyone’s love if one treasures beauty. I love Darcy, for his good look and noble behavior as a gentleman; I love Darcy, for his good ability to stand out in that aristocratic society, for his fortune, for his good reputation and social status; however, I love Darcy, mostly for his sincerest attitude and values and actual dos for Elizabeth, and this will be the rarest quality which could still exist among those who meet the good conditions I said above. I would not deny that I won’t like a person as much as I do now towards Darcy without meeting those first three conditions, but I would not even like him a little without the last thing---a fine character. Certainly, his character is far more than fine: he push himself to behave closest to perfection as much as he could. In a consequence he might transfer rigorous preference to others. Here pride comes naturally and unfortunately prejudice might come afterwards. However, “Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what others think of us.” This quote from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies reveals a significant why there is so much prejudice in eyes of Elizabeth. Jane Austin centers in pride and prejudice the critical theme, brilliantly interpreting to us what is true love.

From my point of view, true love is no more than observing who the person is and intuitively love who he is. Elizabeth finds his true love. I bet many girls must be jealous of her for being such a wonderful man’s lifelong companion. Me, too. However, I should not conceal my respect and recognition to Elizabeth for she is definitely a great woman. As both her sister Jane and she are respectful ladies, I prefer Elizabeth more. Elizabeth is more special. More specifically, she has a rarer character. In my view, a decent man will look at three main things to select a right companion: first, the appearance or good look. This is natural and common because of almost all men’s nature--- nature of lechery and vanity. Men tend to affect a beautiful woman just like we prefer handsome men. Second, a woman’s quality and capability. But these are not the dominant criteria. The most critical one, I have to say, is all about character. Why Darcy loves Elizabeth? How can a best noble man falls in deep love with a woman with almost no matching conditions with him? It is Elizabeth’s inner beauty! She is the most beautiful in his eyes because her personalities and her values and philosophy are so different from anybody else and they attract him incurably. One more thing, Elizabeth is good at expressing herself and she is firmly true to herself. When one truly knows about oneself, he then will hold on his ground and he will finally stand out from the crowd. Perhaps this is where character lies in from the lesson of Elizabeth.

Some people might negatively complain that there no actual Mr. Darcy in real life. He is too perfect that almost nobody can be as good as him. Indeed, Mr. Darcy is a fictional person, and perhaps Mr. Darcy is only a fantasy who would not come to us ordinary girls. But I strongly believe that Mr. Darcy indeed exist as long as I keep seeking and never stop growing. I know I will never be an Elizabeth but I will spare every effort to be my best self. Perhaps I will never meet him. But who knows.

1.Jane Austen's tale of love and economics reaches us once more with the energy of a thorough novelty. “Pride and Prejudice” has been a favorite novel of mine since I first read it and I've seen Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle and now Matthew MacFadyen and Kiera Knightly. Amazingly enough I've never been disappointed. The material seems to be full proof. Colin Firth's Darcy, in many ways, is the Darcy I've always imagined. He's been an actor I've followed feverishly since his glorious Adrian LeDuc in “Apartment Zero”, Matthew MacFadyen was totally new to me but he managed to create that sense of longing that makes that final pay off so satisfying. Kiera Knightly is a ravishing revelation. I must confess, I didn't remotely imagined that she was capable of the powerful range she brilliantly shows here. The other big surprise is Joe Wright, the director, in his feature film debut which is more than promising, it's extraordinary. The photography, the art direction and the spectacular supporting cast, in particular Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn, makes this new version of a perennial classic a memorable evening at the movies

2.Pride and Prejudice was an absolutely fantastic film. A great cast, and Keira Knightly did an excellent job and Matthew Macfadyen was a wonderful in the role of Mr Darcy. The cinematography was so ridiculously good, there were some fantastic shots and the costumes were also fantastic. The script was fairly good, it is true to the classic by Jane Austen, Mr Wickam could have made more of an appearance, and had a striking resemblance to one Orlando Bloom. The movie moved fairly fast but trying to fit such a novel into two hours had to be hard anyway, so I say well done to all involved, as such a beloved book can be a hard project to take on, but after watching it I really can't wait until to see it again!!!

The feeling of 《Pride And Prejudice》范文二

Then man treat great event in one's life with punishing, Demonstrate different attitudes to the love question of the marriage of young girl of the family origin of middle class of villages and towns, Thus reflected authors oneself's marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position; Get married and does not consider that above-mentioned factors are unwise too . So, she objects to getting married for money , objecting to regarding the marriage as a trifling matter . The woman protagonist in the book Elizabeth comes from the little landlord's family, reaches the west to have deep love for for the rich and powerful people sons and younger brothers. Elizabeth watches conducting oneself in society and a series of behavior of reaching the west personally afterwards, See he change the proud conceited expressions of passing by, dispel misunderstanding and prejudice to him, Thus concluded the happy marriage with him.

Recently, I read through “Pride and Prejudice” which written by a well-known English writer----Jane Austen.

Austen was born in the countryside, so she didn’t go to any normal schools. But she really read widely instructed by her father who was the local parson.

During that period of time, Austen was regarded as the first author to realistically describe the common characters in common life. Her works, to some extent, reflect the comedy in the middle-class of England and also got rid of the fixed tradition in the 18th century by analyzing the personalities of the characters artfully.

“It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife.” With these lines, a classical novel about the value of the love begins.

This writing pictures four marriages in Bennet’s family, and the primary one was between Elizabeth and Darcy.

Darcy who was a single man of a large fortune fell in love with Elizabeth after only a transitory intercourse. And later on, Darcy proposed to her with regardlessness to the gap of the wealth and class. But Elizabeth unmercifully refused him by misunderstanding his represented extreme pride which was just a reflection of the high-class. After a long-term observation of his behaviors, Elizabeth was finally loyal to her own heart.

“Pride and prejudice” was superficially a love comedy. But it actually explained that only by action and introspection can have the hope and the true love; and also the dignity of a person which was as well built up by action and introspection was not inherent.

Just as Austen herself said, this novel was sculpted on the two-inch ivory, which exquisitely reflects the conservative life in England of these days.

This writing, to some extent, expresses the author’s marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position as well; and also it is foolish if you do not consider the above-mentioned factures. So she objected to getting married for money as well as regarding it as something unimportant. She emphasized the importance of the ideal marriage and regarded the true love as its foundation stone.

Pride and prejudice were two weaknesses in our humanity which was easily distorted. And in the way of pursuing love, we should not be controlled by these shortages, but to keep our own faiths and feelings.

Whether the marriage is a happiness one depended on whether they truly love and know each other. Falling in love at first sight is indeed more romantic than the long-term love. But we can not deny the fact the long-term coexistence will surely bring both of you to a better understanding and a deeper affection.
