英语作文一般分为三部分：开头、主体和结尾

结尾部分，一般是一段。在这一段中，要就整篇文章的写作内容再做一下综述。应该注意的是，在这一段中不要再提出新的观点，所以的句子都应该是围绕论题来进行的总概括，不是就主题的进一步延伸。
整个文章的结构就是这样的。我们可以简单地称它为三段论结构。当然，中间的主体部分可以分成几个段落，每段就从主题的一个角度来分析。段落结构是很明朗的，每一段的结构也是很明朗的。所以，有时候，读者若是没有时间看整篇文章，他就可以只是看开头部分，以明白了文章的中心议题；再看主体部分每段的段首句，就清楚了文章了论述角度和论述方法；然后，他就会重点看最后一段，这样他就可以明白作者的.整个文章的内容。
这中结构很像我们汉语作文写议论文的三段论的结构方式。确实很相似。但是，英语中，要特别注意的是文章最后不要在提出新的话题。而这一点正好与汉语的文章的写法想法不同。在我们平常写文章时，最后几句总是会在提出倡议或是新的感想。这样的做法在英语作文中是严重的错误。
