in my 18 years of life, there have been many things. university days are the best part of them. i can never forget the days when i stepped into my university. i was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. i at once fell in love with it.
after the arduous military training, i get absolutely absorbed in my studies. the classes given by the teachers are excellent. they provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. they easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as i can.
frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
learning is a long process; i'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.
at the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day. gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
i also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school. while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.
besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. i do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. we also write a play and put it on in our spare time.
campus life is the most splendid time. but different people have different choices. the majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. but there are indeed some students still under ignorance. they gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. they're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. they forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

It was a long four years. Even after I had actually graduated, the nightmares began to haunt me, the university would call to say I hadn’t truly graduated. There had been a mistake and there was just one more class I needed to take. I was always so relieved to wake up and realize that it had only been a bad dream. In reality, I had completed every course needed for my degree, and I was a full-fledged college graduate!
Now, the rest of my life loomed ahead of me. Sometimes a bachelor’s degree prepares you for a specific occupation——you train to be an accountant, you graduate and get a position in an accounting firm. Often, however, your stint in college only prepares you to make further decisions regarding your future. You’re pretty sure what you don’t want to do!
During my senior year of college, I had toyed with the idea of changing my major. At that point, I had finally discovered what captured my heart. But, wanting to finally be finishing school was a stronger pull. So, I took a few courses in physiology and exercise science, but not enough to receive a degree in physical therapy. That would require advanced schooling, beyond my bachelor’s degree——and I just wasn’tready to tackle that. Having completed my B.C. degree, I didn’t have any intentions of furthering my education.
So, I did the safe thing and got an office job——the very thing I was sure that I didn’t want to do! I detested the office policies, the suits I had to wear and the downtown environment that I had to drive to every day. I knew this was not where I belonged.
But god knew what path my career was to follow. A position opened up at the most exclusive health club in our city, so I applied. This was my kind of environment——an active, vibrant kind of place——completely at the opposite end of the spectrum from the office environment where I found myself. The position required that I work Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Perfect, I thought! I could keep my office job Monday through Friday and work at my dream job on the weekends. This arrangement lasted several months until, eventually, a full-time position opened up and I was able to resign from my office job.
Over the next few years, I worked my way up the leader, gaining experience in several different departments. I found my niche as the director of member services——catering to our clientele and providing them with numerous cutting-edge programs. I would have stayed at that job forever——it seemed to be the pinnacle of all my dreams fulfilled. Here were fellow employees who had a passion for the same things that I did——health and fitness. Yet again, god had other plans for my life.Within two years, a newer, bigger, better and more state-of-the-art health club facility was built——just five miles down the road. And, in turn, the owner lost many members to that club. And, in turn, the owner lost thousands of dollars. One by one we were each laid off.
After trying unsuccessfully to land another similar position elsewhere, I knew what I had to do. Go back to school!thanks!篇二

this presidential library chronicles a vivid era in american history, for the benefit of future generations. it will contribute to the vitality of this fine city and to the great state of arkansas. the collections here record the dedication and hard work of thousands, who brought talent and idealism to public service. and at the center of that era, at the head of that administration, was an able and energetic american. president bill clinton led our country with optimism and a great affection for the american people, and that affection has been returned. he gave all to his job, and the nation gave him two terms.
in the early 1990s, the american people saw a young, well-spoken, relatively unknown governor rise to national prominence. yet for decades here in arkansas, the signs of destiny were clear. when young william entered a new school in the 4th grade, a classmate recalls, ”he didn't mean to, but he just took the place over.“ when governor clinton declared his candidacy for president in this city, his close friends were not surprised in the least. they'd always known that bill clinton's moment in history would come.
arkansas is a state that knows political skill when you see it. a fellow in saline county was asked by his son why he liked governor clinton so much. he said, son, he'll look you in the eye, he'll shake your hand, he'll hold your baby, he'll pat your dog -- all at the same time.

during his presidency, bill clinton seized important opportunities on issues from welfare to free trade. he was a tireless champion of peace in the middle east. he used american power in the balkans to confront aggression and halt ethnic cleansing. and in all his actions and decisions, the american people sensed a deep empathy for the poor and the powerless. shortly before leaving office, president clinton said, ”christ admonished us that our lives will be judged by how we do unto the least of our neighbors.“ throughout his career, bill clinton has done his best to live up to that standard. and americans respect him for it. at every stage of his remarkable life, president clinton has made and kept countless friends, who share in the joy of this day. and three people in particular have the largest part in this remarkable story. one day more than 30 years ago, inside the yale law library, a fellow student walked over to bill clinton and said, ”if you're going to keep staring at me, and i'm going to keep staring back, we ought to at least know each other's name. mine's hillary rodham. what is yours?“that was a good day for both of them, and the beginning of a partnership unique in american history. so today, we honor the former first lady of arkansas, the former first lady of america, the united states senator from new york, senator hillary rodham clinton.

现如今，我们大学生正处在大好青春年华之时，恰同学少年，正是书生意气，风华正茂，如日出之阳。怎能整日哀怨堕落，颓废伤感，似孤舟之嫠妇，垂死之朽木，何谈立志报国?所以，大学生要有志气，有一种自信人生二百年，会当击水三千里的志气;有豪气，有一种可上九天揽月，可下五洋捉鳖的豪气，以一种开拓进取的力量越是困难越向前;以一种创造世界的精神敢叫日月换新天!
因此，大学生首先要上的第一课就是锻炼自己的心性与品质。人若有志，哪怕背后袭来寒风苦雨，目标是地平线，留给世界的只能是背影;人若自强，哪怕前行道路崎岖坎坷，留给别人的只能是倔强要强的印象;人若自立，哪怕生活工作中有千难万险，理想是台擂，那么，他站起来时一尊雕像，倒下去也是一座丰碑。
大学短暂，只是人生旅途匆匆一站，如白驹过隙，时光荏苒。学会做一个自强自立的人，做一个有鸿鹄之志的人，走一个立志报国，志在四方的人，哪怕现在不与众人同，心中有苦衷，只要心力备至，自有水到渠成，到那时，几人平地上，看我碧霄中!

大家好!
今天是“五四”青年节，我们青年人的节日，很高兴能够参加本次的演讲比赛。我的演讲题目是《年轻的我们，要拼搏!》
1_9年5月4日，几千名爱国学生在天安门集会，举行声势浩大的游行示威。“外争国权，内惩国贼”的口号响透了大江南北。于是乎，一场中国历史上空前强势的爱国运动轰轰烈烈的爆发了，它引领了中国革命进入新的历史潮流!
时光荏苒，岁月如梭，1_9年的青春年少已不再回，但是“五四“的精神却传承下来，“自强不息，敢于拼搏”的精神激励一代代青年人为国家，为社会，以及对美好自由的向往，不懈的奋斗!
今天，站在这里，我不想高谈阔论的说着，作为在校大学生的我们应该如何的努力学习科学文化知识，报效国家，报效社会。我个人的观点，这理论太大了，很不符合实际，有些扯淡。在_，_后中间房子，车子问题都不用说，就连就业吃饱穿暖的温饱问题都难以解决，何谈报效国家，社会呢!所以，我觉得在新的时期，“五四”的精神就是“自强不息，敢于拼搏’!说白了，只要我们每一个人在自己的位子上努力做到最好，那就是对国家，对社会最大的贡献!
其实，站在这里给大家做演讲，机会来之不易，我也想慷慨激昂一番，抒发着对历史的刻骨铭记，对国家的爱，但是我不想这样，也不会这样。我很想把自己内心的话向在座的各位同学说一下，我曾经在空间博客里写过一篇针对在校大学生的日志《你不知道》，有一段内容是这样的：
你不知道，每天早晨你懒在被窝还在倒数着数准备起床，有一些人却早已站晚在操场为锻炼身体累的喘气;你不知道，当你坐在教室玩手机，QQ聊天时，有一些人却认真的听着课，记着笔记;你不知道，当你坐在台下使劲的为获得荣誉的同学鼓掌满心的羡慕时，他们在背后付出的多少艰辛和汗水;你不知道，当你和宿舍哥们喝酒到天昏地暗的时候，父母却还在为明天怎样多赚一点点钱，后天就给你寄去而发愁到夜不能眠;你不知道，每天在校恋爱甜蜜的时候，有一些人却扎在图书馆埋头苦学，积累着知识;你不知道，周末你坐在电脑前，游戏中厮杀忘我的时候，有一些人却在为很不好找的兼职努力工作，赚取一些小的收入，更发展着能力;你不知道，当你在为到底是买红色还是紫色的裙子好看而苦恼时，母亲却在想着是买2元还是3元的护手霜，因为多出1块就可以多买一斤白菜; 其实，你不知道的，你都知道!
说到这里，我自己心里很有感触，有些心痛的感觉，这是我前一段时间对自己的一次反省，说出来也是与大家一起共勉!我希望同学们也能反省一下自己，改掉过去的坏习惯，把握好在校的每一天!
新东方校长俞敏洪曾作一篇《人应该像树一样活着》的演讲，我听后深有体会。文章内容大致是这样“每一个的生活方式有两种，第一种是像草一样活着，尽管你活着，时刻在成长，但你毕竟是一棵草，你吸收了雨露阳光，但是你长不大，人们可以踩过你，但人们不会因为你的痛苦，而他产生痛苦。人们不会因为你被踩了而来怜悯你，因为人们本身就没有看到你 。所以，我们每个人都应该橡树一样的成长，即使我们现在什么都不是，但是只要你有树的种子，即使被人踩到泥土中间，你依然能吸收泥土养分，自己成长起来。也许两年三年你长不大，但是没关系，十年八年二十年你一定能长成参天大树。当你长成参天大树以后 ，遥远的地方人们能看到你，走近你，你能给人一片绿色，一片阴凉。树，活着，是美丽的风景，死了，依然是栋梁之才!活着死了都有用，这就是我们每一个同学做人的标准和成长的标准。
各位同学听了这段话想必也有所收获，人，就应该像树一样活着! 其实，我们的生命，就像在唱着自己喜欢的歌，我们可能会唱跑调，我们可能会忘记歌词，我们还可能听见别人唱着更动听的歌，但是不管怎样，我们一定要鼓足勇气，把歌唱完。也许我们唱得不完美，但这个世界本身就没有完美，也许唱的不够动听，但是这个世界最动听的声音来自我们内心的呼喊!
“五四”青年节，我们自己的节日，它现在的纪念意义在于缅怀历史后，告诉我们：我们年轻，我们有活力，我们应该努力奋斗!

Globalization has eliminated numerous barriers and made the world flat eversince it gained momentum in the 1990s. Public opinionsare being misled by their claim that recoiling from globalization seems to bethe panacea to the two most urgent problems troubling many people in thewest—employment and refugees. But can we buy the story?
Withdrawing from TPP seems to be an act that can move factories back fromthird world countries so that new jobs can be created and therefore unemploymentrate reduced. However, the cost of the products would also be raised since thelabor at home and the transport of raw materials are more expensive, whichcauses greater pressure on all the families in terms of household expenditure.People may manage to get new jobs but the living standard does not improve. Andthis is the story that anti-globalization politicians would never tell to thevoters.
In addition to the concern of employment, the influx of refugees alsotouches a highly sensitive nerve. Rejecting asylum seekers may promote domesticsecurity in the short run, but it tramples what’s equallyimportant--humanitarianism and responsibilities. Refugees such as those fromSyria are not born refugees; they are made refugees by the Wars that shatteredtheir homes and countries. The real solution therefore is not isolation butglobalization because globalization promotes interdependence among nationswhereby conflicts and wars are more likely to be prevented.
Yes, there are defects in globalization, such as environmentaldeterioration, polarization between the rich and the poor, and exploitation ofworkers, to name just a few. But what we need to do is not putting an end to itbut putting it right. As the second largest economy of the world, China shouldhold a lead. We should promote global governance fight against contamination. Weshould strike a balance between efficiency and equity so that differentcountries, different social classes and different groups of people can all enjoythe benefits of globalization.
Globalization has just stepped into its twenties, pretty much like us youngadults. Every twenty something is so energetic, striding to achieve more andsurely deserving a second chance to pull back from the deviation. When I was little, I lived in a remote village in southern China with mygrandparents. Like many kids in the countryside, I enjoyed digging a hole in theopening among paddy fields, using branches and hay to bake sweet potatoes andplaying hawk-and-chicken with my friends. Every Chinese New Year Eve, mygrandmother would prepare our festive food called Guo. It was a tradition thatneighbors help each other prepare Guo. While adults were busy pouring flour onthe cutting board, pressing the paste flat and moulding it into beautiful shape,kids would run around in the village’s ancestral temple and immerse ourselves inthe enchanting and cheerful smell of holiday.
Having lived in the city for the following ten years, I always feel thechanges happening in my hometown every time I go back--the village lookssurprisingly similar to the coastal city where I live! The opening field where Ibaked potatoes was leveled and a manufacturing factory has been built there,blocking the sunlight of our yard. The ancestral temple has been torn down andis now a small supermarket for villagers. The number of people knowing how toprepare Guo is diminishing and young people seem to be more interested in fastfood and oblivious of traditional arts and skills. The village seems quite emptybecause most young people have become migrant workers in cities and only returnhome once or twice a year.
In the course of urbanization, villages gradually languish and die out whenthe passing on of traditions lose its population base. The total number ofChinese villages has declined from 3.7 million in 20__ to 2.6 million in 20__.Approximately 300 villages in China are disappearing every day. It’s saddeningto see that many ancient villages, which survived warfare and natural disastersover thousands of years, have been demolished or annexed by cities in peacetime.Lulei Village, hometown for the famous mathematician, Chen Jingrun, was anaffluent village in southern China with a history of over 700 years. Since thevillage obstructed the construction of the local railway station, it was almosttorn down, including the former residence for Chen’s family.
We Chinese have been reveling in urbanization for decades. What worries meis that one day on this way to modernization, we turn back but are unable to seethe link with our origins and ancestors. When we’re surrounded by skyscrapersand neon glamour, what defines us as Chinese? Urbanization does not meanbrutally encroaching upon the countryside and strangling rural culture. Itshould not sever the ties with our beloved homeland. While promoting thecountry’s economy, it should also allow space for cultural diversity. In theideal urbanization process, we should no longer emphasize the binary oppositionof city and village, but endeavor to form a reciprocal relationship between thetwo.
Ladies and gentlemen, fallen leaves return to the roots. If we do notredefine and reorient urbanization, we will not be able to save millions ofvillages, neither can we revert to the origin where we belong.
