二、备考中期:分类做题,形成做题能力阶段

2、填空突破:看一些难句,找找感觉。

4、每次做完成套的题后,要再仔细的研究一遍,研究知识点,在考试前再突击看一遍。

很多学生都在苦苦找寻提高SAT阅读能力的方法,因为SAT阅读是整过SAT考试中最大的挑战。有些学生或者家长认为SAT阅读的关键是词汇量的问题。这是一个典型的误解。词汇量是阅读的前提,但阅读能力绝对不等同于词汇量。我们必需意识到,广泛的阅读加上词汇量的积累才是有效提高SAT阅读能力的方法。

那么,这个词汇量多少为好?我认为大约5000-6000的词汇量就足以让学生开始针对托福的阅读训练,而针对SAT的阅读训练,我认为词汇量最好在8000以上。但同时我们必需清醒地意识到,记忆单词是一件非常枯燥和困难的工作。单词如果不在阅读中得以强化,是很难牢固记忆的。因此,单词记忆和阅读必需要同步进行,但单词的积累略微超前于阅读训练。

了解了提高SAT阅读能力的方法以后,我们就要对自己的学习有一个长期的规划,假设我们从初三入学开始计算这三、四年的规划,整个过程大致应该是这样的。

第二年SAT学习计划

5、高一上学期,把词汇量提高到7500左右,同时完成大概三万字相当新概念英语四难度的文章的精读,并开始对阅读速度提出比较高的要求(不低于100WPM-words per minute),同时启动写作训练(以下写作训练一直维持到考前)。

6、高一寒假,把词汇量提高至9000左右,同时完成大概四万字的相当于托福难度的文章的精读,并提高阅读速度至120WPM。

7、高一下学期,把词汇量提高至10000左右,同时完成大约六万字相当于托福难度的文章的精读,并提高阅读速度至140WPM。

8、高一暑假,提高词汇量至1左右,同时完成大约六万字相当于托福难度的文章的精读,并提高阅读速度至150WPM。

第三年SAT学习计划

9、高二上学期,巩固词汇,同时完成大约两万字相当于SAT难度的文章的精读,并维持阅读速度至150WPM,并开始托福的针对性训练(包括口语、听力、写作)。

10、高二寒假,完成托福考试,并完成大约两万字的相当于SAT难度的文章的精读。

11、高二下学期,启动SAT应试训练,同时适当扩充词汇量,在6月份进行第一次SAT考试。

1、SAT备考初期(SAT入门、能力培养期):

新的考试季开始了,每年1月都是高二和少量高一学生尝试SAT考试的第一次,我们再次开始面对一些经常被提及的问题:SAT考试的备考应该如何规划?对于高二学生来说,还有大约18个月的时间备考,高一的有30个月,这些时间看似很长,应该如何做有效规划,才不会临时抱佛脚?

SAT备考规划确实是一个重要的问题,科学合理的备考安排有可能最大限度的提升考生考试的表现,其重要性远远超过选择一个什么样的培训班,或者考试是在香港还是台湾。但是由于信息完备程度的问题,很少有学生和家长能做一个科学的备考规划。某种程度上,备考方案的制定是一个“技术活”。

我们把俗称“三要素”的SAT备考规划的核心思路的基本原理在这里希望能帮助到学生。 规划备考方案,我们分两步,第一步,采集“三要素”;第二步,按照五个基本原则匹配方案。 三要素是指“起点情况”“目标分数”和“备考时间分段”三组基本信息。

起点情况

主要是通过模拟考试和AEA分析取得:目前总分、分数分布、知识和能力结构,三个核心信息,用于判定考生目前的基本状态。

目标分数

是衡量学习是否达成最终目的的标尺。一些家长拿进入美国前30名或者50名作为培训目标是不妥当的,那是申请的目标,在申请里面,SAT是手段。在SAT培训里面,一定要有一个可以清楚量化的分数作为目标,目标具体包含:

第一,最终的目标分数,一旦达成这个分数,就宣告成功,结束SAT的培训。要避免贪心不足,目标设定在1900,结果拿到了1900之后发现还有时间再考,就想。这种情况会打乱备考和申请的节奏。目标分数一定要明确具体。

第二,阶段性目标分数。分几个阶段要取决于学生的起点,如果起点是1200,建议设置1500、1800、2000+三个阶段目标分数,如果是2000+的起点,可以设置2100、2200、2300三个阶段目标分许。

第三,最近一期的目标分数和目标分数的组成。明确最近一期的目标分数,还要详细拆解分数的组成,阅读多少、写作多少、数学多少,把目标尽量细化。

备考时间分段

SAT考试的准备通常在10个月到2年之间,甚至更长,这么长的时间准备,就如同一场长跑比赛,不是每个阶段都要冲刺的,也不是全程匀速,不同阶段要有不同的策略。通常我们把备考划分为四个阶段。

学习与训练阶段:这个阶段主要是根据AEA静态报告的指引形成的策略,针对性的做知识学习和能力训练,从夯实基础入手。一般来说在这个阶段做的工作有单词背诵、英文杂志与小说的阅读、学习美国历史、学习多元文化课程、学习批判性阅读课程、学习学术写作课程……通常是在计划的第一次SAT考试之前一年或者一年以上开始 集训阶段:这个阶段是按照考试的要求系统的梳理跟SAT有关的全面的知识点、策略、技巧。一般这个阶段是完成90课时或者144课时的基础课程。基础比较好的学生可以上60课时的紧凑的基础课程。这个阶段一般是在计划的第一次SAT考试之前三个月到半年。 冲刺阶段:这个阶段通常在考前一个月左右。,学生的基本准备已经完成,知识和能力,集中精神需要把已经掌握的知识、能力和策略调整到最佳的应考状态,主要的复习内容是完全仿真的模拟真实的考试,每套题目做分析,针对性的讲解和提升。一般三套足以。

考前七天:这个阶段主要是调整心态,最后巩固强项和分数。

从起点到目标的路径规划,除了具体的时间分段,最重要的就是提升的策略了。提升的策略一般基于AEA单人静态报告分析建立,需要考虑如下五个问题:

1、阅读、写作和数学三个部分需要提升的具体维度是什么,根据报告做一个列表。

设计提升的目标,阅读、写作和数学每个部分提升幅度需要多少才能达成最终的目标分数,将提升目标具体化。

2、将每个部分的提升目标细化到每一个维度,每一种题型上来。比如,语法要从450提升到550,通过作文提升多少,通过SC提升多少?将目标再进一步具体化。

3、将各个维度按照提升空间和提升可能性排序,设计合理的学习优先级。

4、所有的维度的提升不可能在同一个教学阶段全部完成,需要将提升计划根据需要的教学量具体化分为几个部分。低分学生可能需要三个甚至更多的教学周期,高分冲刺学生可能仅仅需要一个教学周期。

5、将各个教学周期与预设的考试时间匹配起来,让每个阶段的学习都符合备考时间分段规划。 经过按照上述原则设计的SAT备考方案,一般就可以最大限度的利用学生的时间,挖掘最大的考试能力和分数了。好的备考计划的重要性比选择好的机构、好的老师和日夜勤奋的学习更重要。

Before you start

● First thing?s first, take a diagnostic. Pinpoint what areas of the exam you need to work on

● Create a study plan that lays out the amount of time you?ll allocate to each and, importantly, when you?ll take your next diagnostic

○ I would suggest another diagnostic between month 2 and 3

3 months until the test

● Allocate this portion of time to learning concepts that you?re struggling with as evident from the diagnostic. Say, for example, you?re struggling with various concepts in writing, reading, and math, but you especially struggle with writing. Get an SAT prep book and read through the relevant sections, and use Khan Academy to fill in the gaps

○ Make sure to focus on concepts and strategies, not the specifics of problems. ○ If you struggle with reading, THIS is the time to identify the reading strategy that works for you. There is no golden, ?best? strategy some people read

questions first, some read the passage first, some annotate, some do not. You have to figure out which strategies help you be in the zone the most.

● Do every practice problem that uses that skill that?s listed in the book. If you need more problems to practice the skills with, google the skill followed by the words Khan Academy and practice and something useful should come up ● Repeat for all skills

2 months until the test

● Results of your understanding of the skills won?t translate to the SAT unless you simulate real test situations. I?ve found the best way to do this is to try to do a practice section as opposed to full test every other day to avoid burning out.

● It?s absolutely crucial that you go through every single problem that you missed and understand not only how the correct answer was arrived at but also the concept itself that the problem tested.

○ Compile a list of skills that you continue to mess up on no worries if progress seems slow, some skills take a long time to understand well enough to apply correctly consistently!

○ Identifying what you struggle with so you can hone in on it is what will serve you immensely

● This phase should take about two weeks the next two weeks will be allocated towards improving the skills that need work identified in the previous step ○ If needed, go back and reread/rewatch the relevant section to review the difficult skill.

1 month until the test

● Diagnostic exam

● Once again, identify your skills that need work. Rinse and repeat with earlier formula. Practice is the real key to nailing the SAT.

● Practice daily (take weekends off and relax) The week of the test

● Take it easy! Review concepts if you?d like, but by now you?ve put in the hours to know you?re going to do well. Definitely treat yourself to a relaxing evening the night before

and sleep well.

● Make sure to hydrate and eat well in the morning.

3 months until the test

● Take a full diagnostic test. In fact, take two if you can spare enough time! This will help you gain a clear sense of your weaknesses and strengths.

○ As you score your diagnostic test, identify the questions you got wrong

because of simple mistakes, and those you missed because you were confused or unfamiliar with the material. It?s best to prioritize studying for the latter, and waiting to practice reducing mistakes until closer to the actual test.

○ Take notes on the basic concepts you would have to know to tackle problems. These include common grammar rules and math problem types (listed on Khan Academy!).Review these concepts until you master them and feel confident about applying them to questions.

● Keep your workload a bit light for the first month, because you don?t want to get too worn out. Work on 1 reading section, 1 math section, and 1 writing section every two or three days. If you think you have more time, do 2 sections for the areas you needed improvement on according to the diagnostic.

● Read ahead! On the new SAT?s reading section, there will be more historically relevant documents and speeches, such as the Bill of Rights or the Gettysburg Address. Reading and analyzing these texts during your practice could help you on the real test.

2 months until the test

First half

● Increase the number of practice areas you work on each day. Focus on 13 skills (depending on the areas you need improvement on) each for reading, writing, and math, for about 12 hours every other day.

● Keep a review notebook for the mistakes you make. Here are some tips: ○ Cut out or write down the questions you missed and the passages you found confusing.

○ For each question, don?t just write the correct answer. Write your original

answer, and add an explanation of why your answer turned out to be wrong. This will help you understand your way of reasoning, and reduce the number of mistakes you make in the future.

○ Update these notes about twice a week, and invest at least an hour every time you make changes.

● Don?t forget to read over the notes you took during the first month of practice! Add more concepts if necessary.

● Overall, you should spend about 12 hours every two days solving sections, and about 3 hours each week writing review notes.

Second half

● Keep the number of sections you work on the same as the previous two weeks, but work on 13 skills every day instead of every other day. While the SAT is a test of your knowledge and thinking skills, it?s also a test of endurance, so the more you practice, the better!

● Consistently your review notes. There?s also one more thing you might want to do at this point. Print copies of the passages/questions that you cut out or wrote down. Compile a few passages or individual questions to create your own sections, and solve them. Experience tells me that you probably won?t be able to remember all the answers, but even if you do, it?s still worthwhile.

● You might want to start practicing for the essay (if you choose to write it), including reviewing sample prompts and outlining potential essay responses. ● You should spend about 2 hours each day working on sections and reviewing. Creating your own sections may seem like a tedious job, but it?s very rewarding and sometimes even enjoyable.

1 month until the test

First half

● Don?t forget to review your mistakes and your review notes.

● Keep practicing for the essays, using different examples for every essay that you write.

● Work on 2 or 3 skills each for reading, writing, and math every day. This time, take more care to simulate the actual testing environment by strictly timing yourself, placing minimal distractions around you.

● Although you?re studying a wide range of skills and you?ve been at it for a couple of months, you should still limit your study time to under 3 hours a day. More than 3 hours will not allow you to function as a socially active human being, and you will end up extremely tired by the time you take the test.

Second half

● Now is the time to start taking full practice tests. Take at least two practice

tests each week, making sure to time yourself. I suggest taking these tests on the weekend, or any time you?re not busy. The point here isn?t to finish early? even if you finish a section in, say, 15 minutes, you should check your work until the time is up, just like you would for the real test. Resist the urge to grade your answers immediately after you finish a few sections, and sit through the entire test. I find it best to take 5 full tests total before the test day.

3、基础较好考生SAT 阅读备考计划

这类考生的在校英语成绩接近满分,语法基础扎实并能加以灵活运用,具有一定规模的单词量(有的考生可能已经完成巴朗3500单词的第一遍记忆),有长期的英语阅读习惯或进行过有意识地阅读训练。做过OG的全部或一部分(或参加过SAT基础班或强化班的培训)。 备考目标:

2、托福考试侧重听力能力,SAT侧重阅读能力。

如何规划SAT和托福考试的准备

各大网站、各大培训机构的老师的说法不一:有的说要先准备托福,因为托福简单,先易后 难;有的说先不管托福,把SAT搞定,然后就会觉得托福超级简单,甚至不用准备就可以去“裸考”。 谬矣!这些学生和老师都没有用矛盾的对立统一的关系去思考这个问题。

在我们易稼看来,托福、SAT都需要经历三个阶段的备考:初期(入门、能力培养)、中期(具体做题技巧的形成)、末期(冲刺+模拟)。SAT初期要培养的能力:单词能力、阅读能力、写作能力;托福初期要培养的能力:单词能力、阅读能力、写作能力、听能力、说能力;我们发现 SAT和托福在单词、阅读、写作方面有重叠。对于能力来讲,一般要求准备的时间越长越好。所以,托福、SAT的单词、阅读、写作能力应该从最开始都准备,而且要本着“从高要求”的原则,从SAT的单词、阅读、写作能力培养进行准备,如果你先进行托福的单词、写作、阅读能力准备,必然会缩短SAT的备考初期的时间,SAT的基础可能不稳固。而如果先准备SAT的能力,则应对托福是绰绰有余的。 而在备考的初期,除了准备SAT的单词(涵盖了托福单词)、写作、阅读外,还要准备托福 的听能力和说能力。因为备考初期的时间一般比较充足,所以以上各项可以同时准备。 SAT、托福哪个先考,如果时间充足,先考SAT。比如已经高二了,如果时间紧张,在先定下来SAT的考试时间后,在复习的过程中,如果感觉通过准备SAT,托福的词汇、阅读、写作已经没有问题,听说也准备得不错,可以留出1个月时间训练托福的答题技巧,然后在SAT第一次考试前考一次。

Creativity has obviously influenced earlier generations in a positive way, so there is no need to eliminate creativity from our world. However, by proposing a new, creative solution for the problem of the U.S.’s depression,

FDR pulled the nation out of its slump. Another example of how creativity has positively influenced the world happened just recently,

with the introduction of hybrid cars. These new cars do not rely on as much oil as other cars do in order to operate, using alternative energy sources instead. Without the creative minds behind the invention of these cars, the world would rely so much on its limited oil reserves that fuel would eventually run out. Because of creativity, the world has a chance to find other energy sources.

Though these practical applications for creativity are conducive to everyone, the common man benefits even more from the stimulation that the arts provide. In a world dominated by political powers and torn apart by war, entertainers in the arts can inspire hope and change in everyone.

A child watching a Charlie Chaplin film might decide to join the gymnastics team, or a woman observing a Monet painting in a museum might become an elementary school art teacher: who knows? The arts can transport people to other places, into different ways of thinking.

The importance of creativity in the world today is enormous,
