Nowadays, computers and Internet are playing an important part in our life. We usually need to set passwords(密码) when we use computers and Internet. In order to keep our accounts (账户)and personal information safe, we must learn how to set safe passwords.
Experts have some useful advice for you. You’d better remember them. First, make your password out of capital(大写的)letters. It only takes a hacker(黑客)10 minutes to work out a 6-letter password made of small letters. But the same password in capital letters takes 10 hours to work out. Second, add numbers or symbols to your password. It may be much safer. Third, never use personal information for passwords and use different passwords for different accounts. At last, a user should change his or her passwords every 90 days. In this way, hackers won’t guess your passwords.

No one wants to look silly or do the wrong thing at a new job. It is important to make the right impression(印象) from the first day. You’ll face new people. You will be in a new place.
It may be difficult to know what to do. Here are five tips to help you make it through the first days at a new job:
1. First impressions can last forever. Make sure you make a good one. Before your first day, find out if your new job has a dress code (rules about what you can wear to work). If so, be sure to follow it. No matter what, always be neat and clean.
2. Get to work on time. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes to make sure you arrive on time.
3. Pay attention to introductions. One of the first things that your supervisor may do is to introduce you to co-workers. These co-workers will be important to you. They are the ones who will answer your questions when the boss is not around.
4. Ask plenty of questions. Make sure that your supervisor has told you what is expected of you. If he or she has not told you your duties, ask for a list. Set daily and weekly goals for yourself.
5. Never be the first one to leave. Watch what your co-workers do around quitting time (下班时间). It does not look good for you to be eager(急切) to leave.
( )28. Before you arrive at work, you should __________.
A. dress in a right way B. introduce yourself
C. know your duties D. know your co-workers well
( )29. According to the passage, which of the following statements is True?

( )30. According to the passage, your supervisor is most likely your __________.

Have successful people ever felt sad? Do they have any “secrets” to success? The answers to these questions can be found in US president Barack Obama’s “back to school” speech. Here is an excerpt(摘录) from his speech.
I know that sometimes, you get the sense that you can be rich and successful without any hard work—that your ticket to success is through pop music or basketball or being a TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.
But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. Not all the homework will seem rather important to your life right this minute. And you may not succeed at everything the first time you try.
That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures (the opposite of success). JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was turned down 12 times before it finally came out. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots (投篮) during his career. But he once said, “I have failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures beat you—you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.
No one’s born being good at things. You become good at things through hard work.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to tell when you don’t know something, and to learn something new.
And even when you’re struggling(奋斗), even when you’re discouraged (泄气), and you feel other people have given up on you—don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.

What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life? Somebody mentions(提到) hard-work, others suggest knowledge, love and luck.
If you arrange the 26 English letters alphabetically(按字母表的顺序)and use numbers to represent each of them, for example, 1 for a, 2 for b, 3 for c…, you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work becomes 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11=98, meaning 98 is its mark; knowledge: 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5=96, while love:12+15+22+5=54, and luck : 12+21+3+11=47, a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money or prayer(祈祷)? They can’t , either.
Then what else? Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, or your attitude(态度).Yes, attitude is the word. See for yourself: attitude:1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100,a full mark.
Different attitudes lead to different courses of life. Most times people hope for a better life. It is possible that one will have a change for the better after one has changed one’s attitude.
When you change your manner and became friendly towards others, you’ll meet more smiling faces towards you. In the same way, if you take a positive (积极地) attitude towards failure(失败),you’ll find it’s also rewarding though it has caused you losses.
( )34. What is the mark of the word “money”?
A. 54 B. 72 C. 96 D. 100
( )35. In the writer’s opinion, what is the most important thing in a person’s life?

( )36. According to the passage, if you meet with problems, the best way out is to _______.
A. ask for help from others B. say your prayers to God
C. change your attitude D. try maths-solving methods (方法)
( )37. From the passage we can learn that ______.
A. different attitudes come from different courses of life
B. mathematics can solve every problem easily in our daily life

Garcia Márquez was born in Colombia, but he spent most of his adult life in Mexico City. As one of the most famous writers, he was widely regarded as “a giant of 20th-century literature”. Garcia Márquez wrote in a style called “magical realism(魔幻现实主义)”. In such works, people live a daily life in a certain period of time in history. But meanwhile, magical things happen to them.
Garcia Márquez is best known for his 1967 novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude 《(百年孤独》), which has sold about 50 million copies. Among various programs, TV talk shows have covered all space on daytime television. But no two shows are more opposite, while at the same time standing out above the rest, are the Jerry Springer and Oprah Winfrey shows.
Jerry Springer could easily be considered the king of “rubbish talk”. The topics on his show are as surprising as can be. For example, the show takes the ever-common talk show titles of love, sex, cheating, and hate, to a different level. Clearly, the Jerry Springer show is about the dark side of society, yet people are willing to eat up the troubles of other people's lives.
Like Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey takes the TV talk show to its top. But Oprah goes in the opposite direction. The show is mainly about the improvement of society and different quality of life. Topics are from teaching your children lessons, managing your work week, to getting to know your neighbors.
Compared to Oprah, the Jerry Springer show looks like poisonous waste being poured into society. Jerry ends every show with a “final word”. He makes a small speech about the general idea of the show. Hopefully, this is the part where most people will learn something very valuable.
Clean as it is, the Oprah show is not for everyone. The show's main audience are middle-class Americans. Most of the people have the time, money and ability to deal with life's tough problems.
Jerry Springer, on the other hand, has more of a connection with the young adults of society. These are people around 20 years old whose main troubles in life include love, relationship, sex , money and drugs. They are the ones who see some value and lessons to be learned throung the talk shows.
38. Compared with other TV talk shows, both the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey shows are ________.
A. more interesting B. unusually popular
C. more detailed D. more formal
39. Though the social problems Jerry Springer talks about appear unpleasant, people who watch the shows ________.
A. show disbelief in them B. are ready to face the problems
C. remain cold to them D. are willing to get away from them
40. Which of the following is likely to be a topic of the Oprah Winfrey show?
A. A new type of robot. B. National hatred (憎恨).
C. Family income planning. D. Street accident.
41. We can learn from the passage that the two talk shows _________________.
A. have become the only one of its kind B. shows the weakness in human nature
C. appear at different times of the day D. attract different people

During the past week, Beijing has been covered with thick smog that is forecast to stay until this weekend at least.
The smog, covering 1.43 million square kilometers mainly in northern China, made the Beijing government give an orange alert - the second-highest warning - and ordered people not to leave their homes.
A study in by researchers at Tsinghua University said that there were more than 1,300 microbes(可吸入颗粒) in the atmosphere over Beijing. Although most of them may do no harm to human health, the number still makes people worried.
Zhuang Guoshun, director of the Center for Atmospheric Chemistry Study at Fudan University, said Beijing is covered by smog for an average of 60 percent of the year, while the number for Shanghai is 30 to 50 percent.
However, research studies have found that higher air pollution levels do not exactly mean higher risks of early death or other health illnesses.
One of the scientists' main attentions is the level of PM2.5 - floating matter of 2.5 microns (微米)or smaller, which can go deep into the lungs(肺) and even enter the blood.
Guangzhou and Shanghai in the south of China have slightly higher relative risks to early death from the effects of PM2.5 than Xi'an and Beijing in the north, even though the levels of PM2.5 in the northern cities were nearly twice those in the south, according to a study published in September 2013, led by Pan Xiaochuan, a professor at Peking University's School of Public Health.
42. What colour warning is the second-highest one?
A. Blue. B. Orange. C.Red. D.Black.

A. the number of microbes worries people B. smog does no harm to our health

Sweet wormwood ( 青蒿 ) is a common plant in China, but it has the power to cure the deadly disease called malaria (疟疾). Tu Youyou born in 1930 in Ninbo, Zhejiang Province, is the woman who uses the plant’s special power to save millions of lives.
On October 5, Tu got the award of the Noble Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She shared it with two other scientists from the US and Japan. Tu is the first native Chinese to receive a Noble Prize in natural sciences.
When she was still a high school student, she became interested in both traditional and modern medicine. When Tu joined the national research team to find the medicine that could fight against malaria in the 1960s, things were hard, the team didn’t have modern tools then. Tu used to take the medicine herself to test medicines.
To do research, Tu also had to move around a lot. Once she returned home after traveling for six months. Her little daughter didn’t recognize her and hid from the “strange woman ”.
Finally , Tu found artemisinin (青蒿素) in sweet wormwood in 1971. She spent the next ten years trying to make the medicine better. According to the WHO, about 200 million people suffer from malaria around the world, and about half a million die each year. Artemisinin is still the best treatment against malaria today.
Tu was modest about receiving the award: “The award means the whole research team succeeded.”She also thinks it is scientists’ duty to fight for the health of all humans. She never complained about how hard she works. “I feel more rewarded when I see so many cured patients,” she said .

故选:A.
故选:A.
