i have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. it might even be the greatest of the art since the medium is the human mind and spirit.

i shall speak only of my first teacher because in addition to the other things, she brought discovery.she aroused us to shouting, bookwaving discussions. she had the noisiest class in school and she didn’t even seem to know it. we could never stick to the subject. she breathed curiosity into us so that we brought in facts or truths shielded in our hands like captured fireflies.

she was fired and perhaps rightly so, for failing to teach fundamentals. such things must be learned. but she left a passion in us for the pure knowable world and she inflamed me with a curiosity which has never left. i could not do simple arithmetic but through her i sensed that abstract mathematics was very much like music.when she was relieved, a sadness came over us but the light did not go out. she left her signature on us, the literature of the teacher who writes on minds. i suppose that to a lager extent i am the unsigned manuscript of the high school teacher. what deathless power lies in the hands of such a person.

i can tell my son who look s forward with horror to fifteen years of drudgery that somewhere in the dusty dark a magic may happen that will light up the years…if he is very lucky.

今天早上,我正在接待来园的孩子们时,突然听到了这个响亮的声音。于是,我反射性的回到:“Good morning!”然后,吃惊地看着笑眯眯向我走来的孙熊辉。

“你真棒啊,会用英文和老师打招呼了呀?”

孙熊辉的妈妈此时正向我微笑着,我能感觉到她眼神中散发出来的骄傲。可是这种骄傲竟然让我有了种惭愧的感觉。因为,我觉得现在露出这种骄傲眼神的人应该是我。而她母亲脸上才该是惊奇和喜悦。为什么现在我们的'身份却好像调换了呢?我不禁有些脸红了……

孩子们在平时生活中所接触到的英语实在是太少了。由于双语课程有专门的老师前来教授,因此,说实话,我对他们在英语方面的学习并不是很重视,只是一心想着帮他们复习已学的东西便可以了。可是,今天孙熊辉和他的妈妈给我上了一课。我懂得了:不是老师教给孩子们的东西就是他们真正所需要的。我们更多的应该考虑的是:孩子们真正需要什么?双语学习也是一样,脱离生活的双语学习是盲目的,不科学的。那怎样才能摆脱这种困境呢?这就靠教师在日常生活中的密切观察了,一些简单的问候如:Hello. Good morning. Good bye.等都可在日常生活中便加以渗透。不必非等到上英语课或是在进行英语复习的时候才想到让孩子们进行操练和学习。因为:点滴的经验积累远比一时的反复强调有用的多。

I was very lucky to have met many good teachers,among whom the most mpressive one is my English teacher.She is a woman of midiumheight.She is in her thirties,wearing glasses,and a little on the thin side.Her name is Nancy.

I regard Nancy as a good teacher for three main reasons.To start with,Nancy's dedication and enthusiasm to her work inspired me to get ahead and never stop trying.She spent a lot of her spare time talking with us,helping us with prombles in study and personal life.Second,the wonderfully creative lessons she delivered make English learning no longer a hard job but full of fun.I enjoy every minute of her lesson.And third,Nancy's warmly human character creates a bond of friendship that will last forever.Her great sense of humor and encouraging words made us close to each other like friends.

(1)这个句子以及本课的大部分句子用的是一般将来时(cf. 本课语法)

(2)句子的主语部分our neighbour 和Captain Charles Alison为同位语。(cf. 第4课语法)下文 He will be in his small boat,Topsail 中的Topsail 也为同位语。

2.We'll meet him at the harbour early in the morning. 明天一大早我们将在码头为他送行。

在表示时间的短语 in the morning, in the afternoon等前面可以再加上early, late等副词,以便更确切地表示时间:

Tony will arrive late in the afternoon.

托尼下午晚些时候才能抵达。

3.Topsail is a famous little boat.“涛波赛”号是艘有名的小艇。

语法 Grammar in use

一般将来时 (The simple future tense)

一般将来时由will(第1人称时可用shall)加动词原形构成,可用来预言将来发生的事,如说出我们设想会发生的事或者请对方预言将要发生什么事。will可用于所有人称。当You and I为主语时,通常避免用shall:

You and I will work in the same office.

你和我将在同一个办公室工作。

will在书面语和流利的口语中,在元音之后可以缩略为-'ll,如I'll, we'll, you'll等:

We'll be back at 5 o'clock.

我们5点钟回来。

-'ll在下列场合也可用于辅音之后:

人名之后:

Tom'll be here soon.

汤姆马上就来这儿。

疑问词之后:

When'll Mary be back?

普通名词之后:

The concert'll start in a minute.

在否定式中,will not可以缩略为-'ll not或 won't; shall not缩略为shan't(在美国英语中很少用shan't, 用shall表示将来也不常用):

1.sail

(1)vi.(船)航行,扬帆行驶:

(2)vi.(人)乘船航行:

(3)n. 帆,篷:

This boat has white sails.

2.be+ 副词构成表语

动词be如与不同的副词连用则意义不同(主要由副词的意义决定):

He will be away for two months.

他将离开两个月。(away表示“离开”、“不在”)

Can you be back before six o'clock?

你6点钟以前能回来吗?

You can't see Tom now. He isn't in.

你现在见不到汤姆。他不在。

Come tomorrow. I'll be out today.

明天来吧。我今天要出去。

Everything is over between them.

3.set+ 副词构成的短语动词

(1)set out, 出发,动身:

When'll you set out for London?

你什么时候(出发)去伦敦?

He set out early this morning.

(3)set up, 创立,建立;创(纪录):

Problem Description 大学英语四级考试就要来临了,你是不是在紧张的复习?也许紧张得连短学期的ACM都没工夫练习了,反正我知道的Kiki和Cici都是如此,当然,作为在考场浸润了十几载的当代大学生,Kiki和Cici更懂得考前的放松,所谓“张弛有道”就是这个意思。这不,Kiki和Cici在每天晚上休息之前都要玩一会儿扑克牌以放松神经。

“升级”?“双扣”?“红五”?还是“斗地主”?

当然都不是!那多俗啊~

作为计算机学院的学生,Kiki和Cici打牌的时候可没忘记专业,她们打牌的规则是这样的:

1、总共n张牌;

2、双方轮流抓牌;

3、每人每次抓牌的个数只能是2的幂次(即:1,2,4,8,16…)

4、抓完牌,胜负结果也出来了:最后抓完牌的人为胜者;

假设Kiki和Cici都是足够聪明(其实不用假设,哪有不聪明的学生~),并且每次都是Kiki先抓牌,请问谁能赢呢?

当然,打牌无论谁赢都问题不大,重要的是马上到来的CET-4能有好的状态,
