麦肯锡公司去年11月份出台的一个报告显示，只有不到10%的中国求职者符合外资公司的会计、财务、工程等岗位的要求，大多数人缺乏的是语言和文化适应能力。

北京交通大学英美文化研究所所长宫玉波教授也认为，要成为真正功底深厚、技能全面的`高级专业人才，就“必须读研”。他举例说，重大国际会议的同声传译、重要机构的文件翻译以及一些相对专业的外文稿编撰等工作，一般都不会交给一个英语专业的本科生来完成，因为他们的视野相对狭小，功底还不够扎实。而研究生阶段的系统培养――无论是英美文化方面，还是语言学方面――都能扩大学生的知识面，使他们的功底更扎实，更能适应高端市场的需求。
