二、列出提纲

三、开始写作
一篇文章往往由四部分组成，标题(title)，首段(opening paragraph),主体(body paragraph),结尾段( concluding paragraph)。标题要新颖，能引起读者兴趣，首段的内容根据文章的体裁而变化，比如议论文可以从一种现象，一种观点出发引出作者的观点。记叙文往往交代人物和故事背景。主体是文章的主要部分，通过合适的语篇模式表达一定的观点，考生要围绕中心按一定顺序分层次有重点的展开叙述，描写，议论。结尾段是对全文的总结，论点上要与前面的叙述一致和统一。写作时要注意以下几点。
1、要统一，连贯。
选择那些最能体现中心思想最具代表性的材料，这些材料要共同表达一致的信息。选材时切忌胡子眉毛一把抓。词语堆积，不伦不类。前后及段落之间在逻辑关系上要紧密衔接，不能把没有任何逻辑关系的词放在一起。可以用恰当的关联词把思想连贯的表达出来。

1、化繁为简。

要使自己的书面表达分数上一个档次，表达中就需要多个亮点。考生在写作时，除了要注意内容的完整性、上下文的连贯性，语言的得体性，还要考虑语法结构的多样性和词汇运用的准确性，使文章达到优美的境地。在用词方面，语言驾驭能力较强的学生应尽量学会同义转化，用新学会的表达替代大家都会使用的简单的表达方式。例如：The entrance examination is round the corner / drawing near (=coming soon). 再如：However, not everyone is enthusiastic about (= is interested in) carpooling. 其中 coming soon 和be interested in属于十分普通的词汇，比较适合需要拿保险分的学生。而round the corner或drawing near以及be enthusiastic about使用率大大低于前者。如果考生使用这样的词汇，阅卷老师定会在众多类似表达中，眼睛一亮，印象加分。同时，句子也要讲究结构艺术。全文句式比较单一的书面表达一般很难得高分，在最后冲刺阶段，考生可整理出若干自己能够驾轻就熟的句型结构，如各类主从复合句、倒装句、强调句、感叹句、并列句、被动语态、非谓语动词、虚拟语气、it作形式主语或形式宾语的句型等等。
3、化干为润。

一、对出国和出国后学习、生活的重要性
美国人在近几年发现好多中国留学生虽然GRE分数非常高，写作水平却很低，在以后的学习中遇到了许多麻烦，也造成了教授很大的困扰。所以他们开始认为GRE分数并不能完全代表一个学生的英文水平。
事实上，在国外，只有两种水平能够使你顺利的生存下去，一是听和说的水平，另一个就是写作水平。
中国学生普遍语法水平都非常高，但这只是在做语法题时。而在文章里，一句话却能犯5、6个语法错误。所以美国普林斯顿考试的改革，几乎有1/3的要点是针对外国学生，尤其是越来越多的中国大陆考生来设计的。比如，到明年5月份TOEFL考试机考之后，要把作文中的语法错误算在语法分中。外国教授不需要你到那边再练习写作能力，他要求你去之前练好写作。

语言能力的提高是一个反复练习的过程。它包括听说的能力、阅读词汇和写作能力。写作能力又涉及到两个能力：用词的能力和句子结构的能力。
用词能力指的是对同一种内容，你可以有不同的表达方式。如果你在一篇文章中反复的出现同一个词，而没有可以替换的，那你的分数一定不会高。（当没有GRE作文考试时。美国教授评判你写作能力的标准就是你的书面材料。）
事实上，单词量并能不代表你的写作水平。单词就象是一块块的砖，但是如果你想建一幢大楼，只有材料是不够的，你还需要一个杰出的设计师。虽然英语的章法非常严格，但是它需要你的变化。也就是句子结构的能力更重要。普林斯顿要求你在句法上要有变化。因为GRE作文要求体现复杂性和思想性。好多同学看到一个结构都不知道是什么，更别提让他写出来了。
