1. need作行为动词时后面可以接名词、代词、不定式或动词的-ing 形式作宾语。例如：
Do you need some help? 你需要一些帮助吗？
This room needs cleaning. 这个房间需要打扫。
注意：need 用作行为动词时有人称和数的变化，其第三人称单数形式为needs。变为否定句或疑问句时要用助动词do / does。
2. need 作情态动词时常常用于否定句或疑问句中，此时没有人称和数的变化。试比较：
You needn't go there if you don't want to. 如果你不想去那里，你就不必去。(句中的need 是情态动词)
You don't need to come if you feel sick. 如果你觉得不舒服就不必来了。(句中的need 是行为动词)
3. need 作名词时是不可数名词。例如：
That old man is in need of money. 那位老人需要钱。
篇2：比较need和dare
这两词既可做实义动词用，又可做情态动词用。作为情态动词，两者都只能用于疑问句，否定句和条件句。 need 作实义动词时后面的`不定式必须带to，而dare作实义动词用时, 后面的to 时常可以被省略。

作情态动词
need作情态动词无人称或数的变化，后接动词原形，多用于否定句和疑问句中。
由need引出的.一般疑问句，肯定回答常用must或have to;否定答语常用needn't.
由must引出的一般疑问句，肯定回答用must,否定答语用needn't或don't have to。
作行为动词
need作为行为动词有人称和数的变化，后面可接名词、代词、动名词及带to的动词不定式；可用于肯定句、疑问句和否定句中。
