一、前言
全球化大环境下的中国,经济全面对外开放,企业不断吸引外资,发展对外贸易,与国际接轨日益加深。而外国企业也纷纷进入中国市场。商务英语口语作为贸易活动这一特定语境下的媒介,发挥着越来越重要的作用,并在长期的实践中形成了自己独特的特点。
二、商务英语口语的特点
商务英语属于专门用途英语的范畴,是指用于各种商务活动的英语,口语是其一个非常关键的环节。商务英语的出现会受到不同语境的影响与限制。
1. 词汇丰富
商务英语口语就其使用的场合而言,涉及到外经贸活动的各个环节:询盘,报盘,还
盘,订货,装运,付款,合同,代理,索赔等,又衍生到广告,销售,以及不同的贸易种类,如补偿贸易,加工与装配等。词汇量异常丰富,并精确运用商务专业词汇,如商务专业术语和术语缩略语等。
第一,商务英语口语大量使用专业术语。如:inquiry(询盘),offer(报盘),counter offer
(还盘),gross price(毛价), bad debt(坏账)等等。只有准确和全面地理解商务英语口语中的专业术语,交际双方才能正确理解对方,减少误解,保证交易的规范性,便于交流。
第二,商务英语口语常使用大量术语缩略语。语言非凭空掉下来,也不能简单随意地被创造出来,它的发展遵循着一些“约定俗成”的规律。商务英语,特别是商务英语口语同样顺应着这样的发展规律,并逐渐形成了一系列规范化的专业术语缩略语。
如付款方式常用的术语缩略语L/C, D/P, D/A等都有其特定的含义。L/C(Letter of Credit)是指信用证,D/P(Document against Payment)指的是付款交单。又如保险常用术语缩略语W.P.A, F.P.A等也有其特定的专业内容。
W.P.A,(With Particular Average水渍险),又称“单独海损险”,是指单独海损负责赔偿,海洋运输货物保险的主要险别之一。
这些术语缩略语言简意赅,受到国际商界的认可,使用起来既节省时间,又简单易懂。正是基于对这些贸易专业词汇的了解,交际双方才能正确理解对方,贸易各环节得以进行。
2. 句式灵活多样
(1)商务英语口语中,句子常使用一般现在时和现在进行时态。这两种事态产生的现实感特别强烈,可使对方觉得谈论更可靠。而且我们常发现,这两时态常用来代替一般将来时。
例如:There is a steady demand for this product in the market here. We hope you will be able to supply more next time.
这儿的市场对这种产品有稳定的需求,希望贵方下次增加供货。
We are giving you a further seven days to send your remittance after which the matter will be dealt with by our solicitors.

(2)商务英语口语中,被动语态句子的使用频率远远高于主动语态句子的使用频率。
正所谓:“商场如战场。”贸易各方若在交易中稍有不慎便会错失达成交易的良机。因此在贸易活动各环节,各方在交流中的言语要求十分谨慎。主动语态虽比被动语态生动,形象,更富有感染力,但被动语态因其语气婉转,不生硬,间接自然,在商务英语口语中使用频率更高,达到的效果更好。
所以在很多情况下,我们会避开使用主动语态,而采用被动语态委婉地表达自己的想法,充分利用被动语态这一语法功能。

上述二句使用了被动语态,语气更委婉,更礼貌,对方听到后很可能会乐意接受所述要求,进一步促进交易目标的达成。若将两句变成:“We need the order urgently…”和“We require you to send…”,语气就变得太强,像是给对方下命令,对方很可能会感到难受,影响交易目的的达成。

3. 语篇范围广泛,谈判性和策略性强
商务英语口语不像日常英语那样可以随意更换话题。就其语篇结构而言,通常分为三
